Patron Saint of Revolving Doors explores obsessive and circular thinking in life. Within the french folds of the paper, you can find the photo series ‘From Window’ and ‘From Raven’ by Masahisa Fukase. Photography as a hobby can be relentless and obsessive, in this case it captures the decline of a relationship which one can not get out of. The text in the book is removed from the traditional formatting. It wraps around the book, causing the viewer to have to physically turn the book around and around, thus reenacting a tedious and circular habit.
b.Pictotype
Pictotype brings together five different Wikipedia pages in order to explore the evolution of symbols to language and type design today. The cover is a rendition of 601bisang’s Digilog601, which utilizes ‘purposeful ambiguity’ and explores ways forms can stimulate imagination. In this case, I created the cover entirely from the letter ‘t’ and each segment of the figure is dispersed throughout the book, a new one in each chapter.
c.Synthetically Human
Synthetically Human was born from a collection of over 80 images around the city which explore color as a function. Colors such as red and yellow were some of the earliest colors used by human ancestors, and since then have stuck around with the same meanings over millenia. Through the image and text, I am interested in the way these colors evolved with humans, becoming highly synthetic yet still retaining the same meaning and symbolisms.
d.For Humans, By Humans
For Humans, By Humans is an exploration between AI and human collaboration specifically in graphic design. While the prompts are a generated list of topics for someone interested in learning about AI, all of the information was researched by me and the book was designed and printed by hand.
e.LTC Bolo
This bolo pendant was created using the letters L, T, and C. Rendered in Rhino, this piece explores my interest in using letters outside of their traditional form, giving them new life as purely a shape.
Printed and cast in sterling silver with City Casting.
With help from Myron Tobak.
f.Wares
Created in Glyphs, Wares is inspired by hardware tools with a focus on connection points and curves. The type specimen includes the acrylic cut pieces which when screwed together form each of the letters.
g.Barrchive
I created Barrchive’s brand identity within Adobe Illustrator. I adapted the letters B,A,R, and R from the typeface Nagel VF in order to create a logo. Cards and bookmarks were printed out and given to those interested at Offset Bookfair.
h.Miscellaneous
Motion design, 3d rendering, lettering, explorations in texture and form!
